As each year draws to a close. We often look back, bask in our achievements, learn from our mistakes, and pen down our new year resolutions. So here’s mine. I wanna thank my friends and stalkers with curly hair who are taking time to read this because really, it’s a recap of what I did this entire year..
Life was simple from January to May, where I started out selling my RL photography works, before venturing into SL photography.
At the start of my SL modeling “career” in May/June 2011, I entered the biggest contest for male models in SL. At that point in time, I had not one, but two great friends, both of whom i’ve lost but they helped shape who i am, made me stronger, and i’m thankful for the lesson our now defunct friendship has taught me. It took me awhile to realise the relevance between SL and RL fashion, and the tendency for people to over-style as well.
After the contest, the intensity of the drama was turned up a notch and I’d contemplated leaving several times but I stayed, for my friends, and to prove I am not a fraud.
I graced 2 magazine covers in August and September, namely Maniera and DMI magazine. It was a great experience to be doing interviews in SL and to see my pic on the magazine kiosks. Thank you Topaz and Lady for the opportunity.
September saw me getting hired to star in the store vendors for Gizza. Giz and Auster, thank you so much for the opportunities and exposure. It was, and still is a huge honour representing GizzA.
I would also like to thank Eve from Face Paint for hiring me to front her entire male make-up collection in October.
November was both my rest and “come back” month, thanks to the amount of bullshit stuff I had to deal with and I’m thankful it’s over and I’m out of that childish mess.
December could be said as my highlight of the entire year, I got hired as the Muse / vendor / poster model for SoliDea FoliEs, Bliss Homme, SHIKI and ALEIDA.
Mila Tatham of Solidea Folies puts out designs that are unique and special, taking SL by storm and being handpicked by her to model her posters and vendors was a dream come true.
Being invited by Amutey Decuir as the Bliss Homme vendor (christmas special) and poster model was the best christmas gift ever. I’d also have the honor of fronting her 2012 collection. Thanks Amutey.
As I am typing this entry, I am on a post stand fulfilling my final job of 2011 as the male “face” of ALEIDA. It started out with my face being imprinted on all the store bags, followed by store posters shot by Aleida herself and promo posters shot by Houms Thor.
Last of all, having the opportunity to work with Shinichi of SHIKI for his 2012 spring/summer collection is all exciting at the moment as we’ll start shooting this weekend. TY Shini.
All in all this past year, my close friends remained my close friends, some left SL, most remained. Along the way, I got to make several new friends, some became my new family (and we’re having a baby), others faded into oblivion. Thanks for everything, our daily chats on Skype, Gtalk and in world. All of y’all have been my pillar of support through everything and I am so very thankful for you.
You guys have also defined my SL experience and brought lots of laughter to my daily life and words cannot express my gratitude.
To the designers who hired me, Thank You for the faith (and lindens) you put in me to show case your designs.
So what’s for year 2012..
The launch of Asymetrique (ASMT), a joint venture with Leah, Anna and Dani, is a business that provides the ultimate fashion experience by combining a creative, professional staff with elite print and runway top models, working together to bring your creations to life. ASMT Supermodels together with the ASMT Models offer you a wide range of styles whether for print, runway, events, blogging, or other media needs.
One of ASMT’s latest projects, the launch of SL’s first men’s themed style guide – L’Homme, my awesome team and I hope to continually improve on it and bring it to greater heights. It has always been a dream in SL/RL to helm a publication and I am thankful to all the support that my fellow models, photographers and designers have rendered over the last few weeks of this year.
